Photographer specialising in natural & informal black & white portraits of children & families; including nurseries, pre-schools, primary schools and playgroups. Commissions also taken for reportage wedding photography, parties, christenings and conferences.

I have been photographing my friends and family since the age of eight and I believe I have always had a special affinity with people.

In 1999, I exchanged my bachelor desk job in London for married life in the country. This gave me the impetus to take up photography on a professional basis. The arrival of two baby girls provided ready and willing in-house models.

My special focus remains people, particularly portraits of children and family groups, reportage wedding photography, family parties and christenings. I favour black and white as a timeless way of capturing natural and informal expressions. The outdoors is best for this and, whenever possible, I choose my home in The Lee as my studio.

My portfolio continues to grow and now encompasses a previous passion of mine: charities such as Save The Children, Treloar Trust and Merlin. I have also recently been commissioned by the BBC to take documentary stills.

I believe the appreciation of the dignity of childhood is the key to my portraiture. I allow children as much time as they need to relax. Children playing happily, with no performance pressure, have their own beauty, and I consider I know instinctively the precise moment to snap.
