About the School

The Misbourne School is a co-educational Upper School serving the villages of Great Missenden, Prestwood, Little Kingshill, Hyde Heath, South Heath, Ballinger, The Lee and Lee Common.

Since September 2006 we have had specialist status as an Arts and Technology College. We are currently setting up events to take place around the Great Missenden area to benefit the local community. It is our aim that by opening our doors to everyone, not just our students, The Misbourne will become an important resource for creative learning within the local community

As a specialist college we receive substantial funding in order to build on our existing successes. We receive capital build funds, which when combined with those that our sponsors have donated, will be used to convert the old food technology room into two modern work areas to support specialist subjects. One of these will focus on CAD/CAM and Print Sublimation resources, whilst the other will become a "wet area" for the production of large scale printing, dying and silk screening. We are also building a new classroom which will include new technologies such as a data projector and networked computers.

Art & Design

Our aim at the Misbourne school Art Department is to encourage and nurture through direct personal experience; the imagination, the ability to observe and the analytical and practical skills of our students.

Through first hand experience of practical activities and through the research and analysis of work from different periods and cultures, students learn to understand and appreciate the importance and richness of the visual arts and the contribution they make to the world we live in.
