Subject:
Fine Arts > Painting

Age Suitability:
For all age groups

Description:
The inspiration for my abstract pieces is drawn from my own personal experiences. They are a response to my moods and feelings. I try to create a sense of energy and possible opportunities. The pieces become starting points for thoughtful exploration. The scale of my work varies from piece to piece. I have created larger pieces that are several feet in length and small works only a few inches high. Much of my work is created using acrylic paint and mixed media. My representational work is influenced by the natural world, in particular wildlife and the human form. Art styles such as futurism and abstract expressionism have influenced me and I have tried to capture some of their colour and vitality in the development of my own work. Media varies from acrylic, watercolour and oils depending on the effect I am trying to achieve. Digital media is an art form that has amazing potential. I will often use my own photography as a starting point for fantastical and surreal imagery. Figurative work is often inspired by characters in folk lore and literature
