Description:
Established in Little Chalfont for the past 15 years the Little Chalfont Drama Workshops are proof positive that the importance of communication and presentation in today's world cannot be overestimated. We meet at Little Chalfont Village Hall and Amersham Common Village Hall.
Students from 6 to 18 years develop vocal and acting techniques in an atmosphere of fun, which is after all, the best way to learn. There are opportunities for festival performances and taking LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) examinations taught by a qualified teacher and Council Member of the STSD (Society of Teachers of Speech and Drama).
Cally Foster, principal of the workshops, is herself a LAMDA examiner and travels extensively around the UK and abroad. She is also an adjudicating member of the British & International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance & Speech She comments:
"Since QCA accreditation, it has become increasingly apparent that not only Universities but also prospective employers appreciate the benefits students gain from working through the various LAMDA grades and disciplines. The ethos of the workshops is to equip our young people with the skills to express themselves with confidence. We do not put on large scale productions or provide an agency service as our aim is to give every student high focus. However, many of our members go on to pursue careers related to drama, returning to teach during holidays from university and drama school as they prepare for their teaching licentiates. This is probably why both branches of Little Chalfont Drama Workshops are usually full, as our best publicity is our reputation."
