He travelled extensively, working in more than fifty countries, covering revolutions in the Philippines and Romania, wars in Beirut and The Gulf, uprisings in China and the fall of the Berlin Wall. He has also edited news specials and other programmes. Whilst working on the Newsnight programme, as well as editing, he managed the team of eight editors.
He has been involved in ‘multi-skilling’ as a sound recordist and cameraman.
As a trainer, he devised and ran courses to equip people from other disciplines with editing skills using Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro editing software. He was involved in training journalists in film making using DV cameras.
