Age Suitability:
For Adults
Description:
The Centre is a self-funding, registered charity that owns and maintains the building. All members are encouraged to participate in the running of the Centre, even in a small way. It exists to provide a meeting place for the provision of a wide range of arts and crafts. In order to keep the activities affordable, there are no formal tutors, the ethos being that everyone helps everyone else. Those with experience help new members to get started; all experience and information is shared. Anyone of any race, creed, age or colour is welcome.
The activities available are painting, life drawing, pottery, sculpture, writing, movement to music, and crafts (e.g. embroidery, silk painting and scarf making). Most groups meet weekly throughout the year. The majority of the activities are of a workshop nature, offering facilities, equipment, shared cost of materials and friendly informal help. In most groups the 'teachers' are fellow members. Both beginners and advanced are very welcome. Most groups meet once a week throughout the year. We would be pleased to talk to anyone who feels they could establish or run a group with anything to do with widening the arts and crafts scene.
Annual subscription - £15. Session fees - £1 (excluding glazes and kiln firing).
Members can attend as many of the activities as they wish.
The Annual Exhibition and Sale of Works is held every year in early summer.
There is a hall which is available for hire.
Disabled facilities: Access to ground floor, disabled toilet
