awful/FANTASTIC! is a newly formed, artist-led initiative based in Aylesbury, Bucks whose aim is to create, encourage and promote a dynamic contemporary arts climate within Aylesbury and the Vale, and is as much about Event and Space as the art on display at any of its exhibitions.

Our primary activity is to present themed art shows to explore and respond to contemporary art issues in alternative exhibiting sites and venues in order to promote the work of its member artists and increase the visibility of their artistic output.

awful/FANTASTIC! will also be creating regular networking and professional development opportunities and events (including artist talks and mentoring, portfolio reviews and collaboration with other contemporary art groups and organisations) for all member artists.

Initially, this will take the form of quarterly Events, the first of which took place in December 2006 for Group 396 (2006 fine art graduates from Amersham & Wycombe College) where the group discussed current work in progress, upcoming exhibitions and prospects, and other related ideas, issues and concerns.
