We are a very successful, Amersham based ladies chorus of over 30 members from all walks of life but united in our enjoyment of music making. We sing unaccompanied (a cappella), in four parts, to produce beautiful harmony, predominantly in the Barbershop style.

Amersham A Capella (formerly Chiltern Harmony) proudly celebrates its 25th year in 2007. We were formed in 1982 when the wives and girlfriends of a local men's chorus decided they should explore a cappella singing. Ever since those early days of the chorus, whether performing or rehearsing, our primary objective alongside making harmonious music is to have fun!

 

Each autumn we take part in the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers national chorus competition. In November 2006 we took 5th place in this competition. We were also very proud when our resident quartet, Noteorious, took the bronze medal in the quartet competition.

In the past few years we have performed in Shows at local theatres, for the Guilds of London (Mansion House and Drapers Hall), weddings, local summer fetes, church anniversary celebrations, schools, clubs, charity fundraisers, local retirement homes, and at Christmas events throughout the Chilterns. Frequently we retire to the local pub after a performance and cannot resist blessing the locals with song!

If you would like to join us, you don’t have to sing solo and you don’t have to read music. You can learn songs from our teaching CDs and tapes and learn moves and expression in our rehearsals. However, you will need to rehearse every Tuesday and enjoy performing.
