Barbara Sedassy

I was born Barbara Hill into an interesting and extended family in Bucks.

I studied at St Albans School of Art (where I drew the 'Naked Civil Servant' -Quentin Crisp). Gained an honours degree at Falmouth Art School in the Fine Art Painting department Lithography and printing at Chelsea Art School. I travelled for a number of years in Canada, The States, Latin America and Hawaii. I returned to Bucks and love being able to work and paint and enjoy a rich input of theatre and art in this area.

I work in different media. - works on paper, oils on canvas and board , monographs and printing etc.

I have made and designed wearable art and had stories on Childrenšs Television . I have exhibited in the Chilterns with Bucks 21and the Visual Images Groups. I have run art workshops locally - especially for parents and children. My work is mainly figurative. I love colour and line and the way it sings together. Always sketchbooks are filled and words remembered.

Since 1981 I have worked in and now run the family firm in Chesham- an Engineering and Metal Finishing business - alchemy/ installation/ performance art/ live-in soap opera?

With support and guidance from Chiltern District Council I have been involved in Art in the Community projects locally -Chesham Subway mural - Beechcroft Billboard paintings - mosaic at Haleacre and photographing and drawing dance projects at Endeavour Centre. I love working like this and have been inspired to paint pictures from these events.

The Chiltern Arts Forum is important to me. There is a treasure of talent in the Chilterns - a treasure that includes a richness of local projects, exhibitions, festivals, artists and performers etc.

I hope we can spread the information so all performances have audiences; and adults and children know there is more to do than watch TV. And none of us artists feel isolated and unsupported or unaware of what we have available near to home.
